Connie Newman
Connie Newman, MD, Adjunct Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine and Academic Visitor at the University of Oxford, UK, served as the 2018-2019 President of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), an organization of women doctors and medical students, that aims to advance women in medicine, achieve gender equity, and improve health. Dr. Newman participates in the Hadassah Coalition for Women’s Health Equity as a representative of the American Medical Women’s Association. She is a Founding Member of Time’s Up Healthcare, which aims to bring safety, equity, and dignity to the healthcare workplace. Dr. Newman advocates for women’s rights to health care, including reproductive care. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey, a member of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Leadership Council, and a member of the Planned Parenthood Global Advisory Board. She has traveled with Planned Parenthood to Kenya, Uganda, Ecuador and Peru to observe the work of local partners of Planned Parenthood in sex education, health care, and advocacy for reproductive rights.
She is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Obesity Medicine. Dr. Newman has significant experience in drug development and safety and was appointed to the FDA Endocrinologic and Metabolic Drugs Advisory Committee in July 2019.
