Starr Mirza
Starr Mirza is an advocate for women’s cardiovascular health. A heart disease survivor herself, from cardiac arrest, prolonged QT syndrome, multi-valvular dysfunction, and heart failure, Starr has dedicated her energy to ensuring that women develop an awareness of their physical and psychological health and are empowered advocates by plainly "knowing oneself." In 2014, Starr joined the WomenHeart organization as a WomenHeart Champion, and through outreach, has offered support and education, has participated in heart disease awareness seminars, and has led discussions at hospitals, various community programs, and other public outreach events. Starr is determined to make her cardiovascular health story an example in the hope that raising awareness might prevent a similar outcome in someone else. Starr dedicates herself to patient advocacy through various contributions made in health and medical conferences and panelist discussions. She increased her advocacy work through participation in the Hadassah-sponsored Coalition for Women's Health Equality 'Breaking Barriers, Changing Futures' meetings.
