Advocacy Update - February 7, 2017

Tuesday, Feb 7 2017

Hadassah's Advocacy Updates provide timely information about our Zionist and domestic policy work and how you can get involved.

Educate. Mobilize. Act.

Last week, Congress was overwhelmed with constituent phone calls — the highest three-day volume in Capitol Switchboard history. Having once crashed the White House phone system in support of stem cell research, Hadassah knows the power of advocating together, with one voice. We also know that, as practical Zionists and Women Who DO, we can't stop there.

Meeting with members of Congress is even more powerful than calls, letting them know where we stand on priority Hadassah issues, like a strong US-Israel relationship and women's health.

Through Day in the District meetings, you can sit down face-to-face with decision makers and policy leaders when they are home from Washington. Advocate for unwavering US support for Israel's security and advance women's health equity — in research, preventive services, and access to care. It's not too late to arrange a legislator meeting during the President's Week congressional recess (February 20-24). And don't worry — we'll give you the tools and talking points you need to make an impact! Register today to help plan or attend a Day in the District.

Demand Strict Monitoring of Iran

On February 1, Iran launched a ballistic missile test, threatening to destabilize the region and Israel's security. A bipartisan group of 22 senators sent a letter to the President in support of new sanctions and other efforts to hold Iran accountable. Take a few minutes out of your day to urge Congress to continue monitoring Iran, endorse all efforts for sanctions and thank them for past support.

Take Action

Hadassah Medical Organization on the Front Lines

Help spread the word about the crucial role Hadassah hospitals play in Israel, providing care to all who need it, in times of peace and in times of terror, including in the aftermath of last week's car ramming terrorist attack near the Geva Binyamin community north of Jerusalem and violence in Amona. The good news? All 48 of the Amona patients treated at Hadassah — mainly police — were released in time for Shabbat!
