Every Step Counts motivated 1,000 women (and men) to walk over 440 million steps from April 11 to July 21, 2016. We're hearing success stories from women like Hadassah Brooklyn President Barbara Katz, "After a back injury and struggling with my weight for years, I joined Every Step Counts in 2015. I got hooked tracking my steps and quickly found ways to take my daily total from 6,000 steps/day to 10,000. A year later, I love seeing 15,000+ on my pedometer at the end of the day. And I've lost 20 lbs without changing how I eat." Share your success stories in the comments below.
This year's Every Step Counts program lasted three months and in that time, members walked a total of 226,686 miles or the equivalent of 9 times around Earth. Last year's program lasted six months and saw Hadassah members walk the equivalent of 14.4 times around Earth.
Additionally, on July 14, Hadassah presented Every Step Counts: Hadassah's Walking Program to over 200 viewers on a webinar entitled "Friends and Allies of the Walking Movement." The webinar was convened by America Walks, the leader of a coalition of national, state and local advocacy groups who share a vision for a Walkable America. Hadassah is a partner of America Walks' EveryBody Walk! Collaborative.
Hadassah members and units are encouraged to keep walking through walk-a-thons, walking groups, and walking collaborations in your communities. Walk in the park over the summer, or inside your local mall during the winter. Take pictures of your walks and keep posting them to social media with the hashtag #EveryStepCounts.
