Hadassah supported Ohio Senate Commission Bill

Tuesday, Dec 15 2020

Exemplifying the power of women who advocate, Hadassah National Board Member Carol Ann Schwartz submitted written testimony on behalf of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America in support of Senate Bill 372, the Holocaust Commission Bill, in the Ohio State Legislature. On December 8th, the Ohio State Senate unanimously voted to pass the new bill, which will create the Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission. The commission’s goal is to improve knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust in the state of Ohio. Addressing the power and importance of Holocaust education in her testimony, Carol Ann Schwartz said:

“Holocaust education is a positive force for creating better communities, ultimately informing people about the dangers of racial, ethnic, and religious discrimination, about antisemitism today, and about hate and genocide. Through the Commission this bill establishes, we can help reverse course and cultivate knowledge and understanding that prepares Ohio’s young men and women to recognize the threat and stand up against it.”
