Hadassah Medical Organization will be the first medical center in Israel to offer meals to young patients that are lower in fat, sugar, and other less nutritious products. The healthy meals will eventually be offered to adult patients.
Developed over the past few months by Hadassah’s Chief Chef Amit Ziv and Head Dietician Rivka Harari, the new menus are an outgrowth of increased awareness of the need for healthy eating, especially among children, who eat a lot of empty calories.
“We prepare potato wedges that look like french fries, but are not deep-fried, and the chocolate milk we serve is low sugar,” relates Chef Ziv. “It looks like the food kids like, but its nutritional value is much higher.”
