How I Learned About Shabbat As A Kid

Allie Kashan

Allie Kashan’s column “What I Learned About Shabbat as a Kid” for Thrive Global reflects on how as she has evolved and grown, the traditions of Shabbat have evolved and grown along with her. As a 10-year-old she was exposed to fully observing Shabbat at Camp Young Judaea. Currently, Allie is a student at Towson University where she is a Jewish Heritage Intern.

In her column, Allie writes about how her Judaism is both unique and unconventional. Her weekly Shabbat observance keeps her in touch with her personal Judaism and provides her with the stability she needs to live her everyday life. This column is part of Hadassah’s ongoing series of articles in Thrive Global, the media platform founded by Arianna Huffington.
