My Shabbas Candlesticks

Tuesday, Sep 3 2019

Welcome to Hadassah’s monthly Shabbat column at Thrive Global, a media platform founded by Arianna Huffington. Each month a Hadassah leader writes about the broad theme of Shabbat and what it means to her.

Can you think of any Shabbat heirlooms that have been passed down in your family? Perhaps even a staple that adds to the significance of Shabbat? For this month's featured writer Frieda Rosenberg, the candlesticks that her mother used for Shabbat are just that. For her they are not only a part of the ritual of Shabbat, but a way to connect with her daughter and grandchildren.

Currently a member of Hadassah’s National Board, the National Portfolio Council Officer and a former National Vice President, Frieda reflects on the candlesticks that have been passed down for generations in her family and their significance.
