In her column, “The Stork Didn’t Bring My Beautiful Daughters, A Social Worker Did” for Kveller, Anastasia Torres-Gil relates her journey as a foster parent and hopes to expand our definition of what it means to be a family and encourages us to expand all of our options. Anastasia Torres-Gil is a retired Assistant District Attorney who served as the Santa Clara County District Attorney's first Hate Crimes Unit Coordinator. She’s a Wexner Heritage Fellowship alumna and currently serves on the National Board of Hadassah. Her op-eds have been published in Kveller, The Jewish News of Northern California, The Oakland Tribune, Thrive Global and Santa Cruz Sentinel.

In her column, Anastasia writes that across the U.S. there are over 400,000 children of all ages in foster care and more than 100,000 children waiting to be adopted.
