Terror in Israel: Hadassah Takes Action

Terror attacks against Israeli’s, soldiers, and visitors continue unabated. In the last 5 months, hundreds of Israelis have been brutally assaulted by Palestinian adults and teenagers using cars, knives, hatchets, stones and guns. Join us as Hadassah takes action in Israel and the United States.

Advocacy in the United States

In the US, Hadassah National President Ellen Hershkin has called upon President Obama, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to send word to the Palestinian leadership that the terrorism must end now. Through our National Action Center, Ellen is urging and Hadassah’s members, Associates and supporters to immediately send letters their elected officials. Apr. 18, 2016—  A bus explosion occurred in Jerusalem. Eight victims were taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, according to news accounts, including a 28-year-old woman in serious condition, three wounded in moderate condition; a 25-year-old man, a 40-year-old man, and a 30-year-old woman, and four lightly wounded, all in their 40s.

Mar. 9, 2016 —  A 57-year-old Arab-Israeli man was seriously injured during an exchange of gunfire between two terrorists and police forces near the New Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City. He was initially brought to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus, but was later transferred to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem for surgery. He remains in critical condition.

Mar. 8, 2016 —  A Palestinian terrorist opened fire on Israeli Police patrol, critically injuring one policeman and wounding a second policeman before attempting to flee the scene. Both were taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. One of the policeman remains in critical condition while the other is in moderate conditions, respectively.

Feb. 25, 2016 —  Tzvika Cohen, 48, was unarmed when he was brutally attack at a mall in Ma’ale Adumim by an Arab terrorist. He was struck multiple times in the head and upper body with an ax during the attack. He was rushed to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem and remains in critical condition.

Feb. 19, 2016, 12:11 pm —  A terrorist attack was carried out at the Rami Levy Supermarket at the Shaar Benyamin industrial area, two men were stabbed by two Palestinian teenagers. Avraham Aital, 36, from Tel Zion, was stabbed in the upper body. He was evacuated to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus, where he is in moderate condition in the intensive care unit. The second man victim passed away after succumbing to his injuries.

(Updated) Feb. 3, 2016, 2:43 pm —  Two Israeli border policewomen were wounded, when three Palestinian terrorists shot and stabbed them outside Damascus Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City. They were taken to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus. One of the victims is in serious but stabilized condition. The second, 19-year-old Hadar Cohen, was unable to overcome the imense injuries caused by the terrorirsts. May her memory be a blessing, our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Jan. 31, 2016, 12:41 pm —  Three IDF soldiers were hurt when a terrorist opened fire at a checkpoint south of the settlement of Beit El in the Samaria region of the West Bank. The 21-year-old soldier, who suffered a gunshot wound to his neck, was taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, in serious condition. The 31-year-old soldier suffered gunshot wounds to his stomach and extremities. He was taken to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus, in ciritical condition. The last soldier, 20, was also taken to Hadassah in light condition after being hit in his extremities.

Jan. 30, 2016, 11:22 pm —  A 17-year-old was attacked when a terrorist stabbed him in the lower back.  He was taken to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus. Aron Pomansky left his ultra-Orthodox family in Brooklyn for Israel and hopes to enlist in the IDF.

Dec. 16, 2015, 4:12 am —  Four soldiers were lightly injured in the raid by friendly fire, when shots were fired at one of the car ramming terrorists in the refugee camp of Kalandiya. Three of the soldiers were taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem and one was taken to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus. They are all in moderate condition.

Dec. 14, 2015, 7:23 pm —  A terrorist from East Jerusalem rammed his car into people waiting at a bus stop near Chords Bridge at the entrance to Jerusalem, injuring 11 people. Six were taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, five of them lightly hurt. Among those hurt is a one and a half-year-old baby, who is suffering an injury to his leg. He remains in critical condition.

Dec. 3, 2015, 8:17 am —  A terrorist opened fire injuring an Israeli Arab man, 47, and an IDF soldier, 20, near the Hizme checkpoint, north of Jerusalem. The two were rushed to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem by paramedics at the scene.

The terrorist shooting attackoccurred near Gush Etzion Junction in the West Bank. Three other Israelis were killed and seven more were wounded in the incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Nov. 10, 2015, 12:34 pm —  Two Arab boys stabbed a security guard, 24, for the light rail in the northeastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev. One of the attackers, an 11-year-old boy, was shot and wounded by the security guard. The boy has been taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. Minutes later, a stabbing attack occurred near Damascus Gate. 37-year-old East Jerusalem resident attempted to stab a police officer. The officers fired at the assailant, injuring him. The attacker was taken to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus.

(Updated Nov. 12) Nov. 7, 2015, 12:41 am —   An Israeli soldier was seriously wounded Friday evening in a shooting attack at the Beit Anun junction north of the West Bank city of Hebron. He was taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. He is now fully conscious and his condition has greatly improved.

Staff Sergeant Benjamin Yaakovovich z"l, passed away on Nov. 8. The professional team at Hadassah hospital did their best to try and save him, but his injuries were too severe.

Oct. 27, 2015,   Israeli-American Richard Lakin, 76, passed away two weeks after being brutally attacked by a Palestinian terrorist. Lakin was shot and stabbed multiple times before he was brought to Hadassah Hospital. Staff worked around the clock to save him, but he never regained consciousness, and when his organs started to fail he was pronounced dead shortly after.

(Updated Nov. 12) Oct. 23, 2015, 6:32 pm Two Israeli parents and their three young children were injured when a firebomb was thrown at their car near the settlement of Beit El, in the West Bank north of Jerusalem. The four-year-old daughter was in critical condition and rushed to Hadassah Hospital. The child underwent a skin graft and will be leaving the hospital for home soon.

(Updated Nov. 12) Oct. 21, 2015, 3:32 pm A 19-year-old Israeli soldier, Dikla Magidish, was in critical condition after she was stabbed by a Palestinian near the Adam junction, near the Hizme checkpoint north of Jerusalem. The woman sustained a stab wound to her upper body and was undergoing surgery at Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus. Dikla was able to go home today and begin rehab.

Oct. 12, 2015, 4:54 pm — Two Israelis were severely injured after a terror attack in Jerusalem. The attack took place in the neighborhood of Pisgat Ze'ev. A 13-year-old boy was stabbed multiple times in his upper body and was evacuated to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus, where he is currently undergoing emergency surgery. The second victim, a 25-year-old male, is said to be in stable condition after also suffering multiple stabs to his upper body.

Also outside of the Hebron-area settlement of Carmei Tzur a 30-year-old man was injured on Route 60 after his car was struck by stones. He suffered injuries to his arms and legs.

Oct. 6, 2015, 12:10 am — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Odel Banita at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. Adele's husband, Aharon, was stabbed to death in a terror attack on Oct. 3 in Jerusalem’s Old City on Saturday night. Adele was badly injured in the attack, and the couple’s toddler son Matan was lightly injured.
