Advocacy Update | Advocate for Breast Cancer Month

Thursday, Oct 18 2018

At Hadassah, we're using three proven strategies to fight breast cancer: education & awareness, domestic advocacy, and support for groundbreaking research at the Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO).

Thanks to your voices and bipartisan congressional support, the NIH saw another historic $2 billion funding increase. NIH will receive $39.1 billion for fiscal year (FY) 2019, including $5.74 billion for the National Cancer Institute. Medical research powers scientific innovation, prevents disease, and saves lives.

Senate Passes the STOP Using Human Shields Act

On October 12, the Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan bill that would enact sanctions on those who use human shields during war. The bill was written in response to Hamas's repeated use of human shields in Gaza, an act that is in blatant violation of the international law of armed conflict. Thanks to everyone who took action with Hadassah.

Save the Date for #ThinkPinkFriday!

On Friday, October 26, join Hadassah for #ThinkPinkFriday! We'll be wearing pink in solidarity with our breast cancer awareness campaign #BC: Making Breast Cancer a Thing of the Past. Wear pink, snap a selfie, share it on social, and help us make breast cancer history with #MyBCCampaign!
