Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum serves as spiritual leader of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah (CBST), a vibrant spiritual community in New York City and a progressive voice within Judaism. CBST welcomes LGBTQ and straight individuals and families who share common values. Passionate, provocative, and deeply Jewish, CBST champions a Judaism that rejoices in diversity, denounces social injustice wherever it exists, and strives for human rights for all people.
Rabbi Kleinbaum received her ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 1990. She was named one of the 50 most influential rabbis in America by Newsweek for several years, as well as one of Newsweek's 150 Women Who Shake the World. She has also been named one of the country's top 50 Jewish leaders by the Forward and the New York Jewish Week.
