The Coalition for Women’s Health Equity’s inaugural Women’s Health Empowerment Summit was a resounding success! In 2016, Hadassah founded the Coalition for Women's Health Equity -- a broad coalition of 23 women's and health organizations that promotes policies to address inequities in quality of care, funding and support, and gaps in women's health awareness. Together we can advocate, legislate, and continue to educate our communities to secure better health opportunities and outcomes for all women in America.
Advocate!
Share your patient story with your local, state and federal representatives in a way that makes sense for you -- attend town halls, send letters, sign petitions, or make phone calls. Help us continue the momentum from the Summit by planning a Day in the District meeting with federal legislators when they are home in August.
Speak out for women's health coverage and demand greater representation for women on the Senate health care working group. Women should not face discrimination in health care and any new legislation should require coverage of preventive health services, well-woman visits and maternity care.
Support medical research, especially women’s health research. Call your legislators to demand increased funding to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), or send a letter through Hadassah's National Action Center.
Legislate!
Women are often the primary caregivers for their families, juggling the responsibilities of caring for both children and aging parents. Join Hadassah in urging Congress to fight for caregiving support policies such as the Recognize, Assist, Include, Support and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act.
Don’t see change happening quickly enough? Run for office! For resources and training, learn more about the many organizations dedicated to building political power for women.
Educate!
We encourage women to learn more and discuss clinical trial opportunities with their medical professionals. Through the Diverse Women in Clinical Trials Initiative, organizations may partner with the FDA on educational outreach, scientific programming, and resources.
We welcomed sixteen Hadassah Advocacy Ambassadors to the Summit for a day of immersive learning. If your chapter would like to become more involved in Advocacy and there is an Ambassador in your region, please reach out to her for support. If your area doesn't have an Ambassador and you'd like to get involved, contact us advocacy@hadassah.org.
Promote #HealthEquity4Her toyour friends, colleagues, and social networks. Our hashtag was trending in the DC area during the Summit, and we must keep that conversation going! Share the Summit videos from the Coalition webpage, and post photos and infographics from our Facebook album.
As part of National Women’s Health Week, the Office of Women’s Health provided tips for women of all ages to live a healthier life. Education is essential to making change in your community.
