Hadassah Mourns the Passing of Transplant Hero Rabbi Yeshayahu Heber

Rabbi Yeshayahu Heber

The Hadassah Medical Organization mourns the loss of Rabbi Yeshayahu Heber, the founder of Matnat Chaim, an Israeli organization that encourages and facilitates kidney donations from altruistic donors to non-familial recipients. Rabbi Heber passed away on April 23 from COVID-19.

Countless members of Hadassah Hospital’s staff were privileged to know Rabbi Heber well, since many of the 800 transplants he facilitated were performed at Hadassah. With his humanity and wisdom, the optimistic and modest Rabbi, who was responsible for saving hundreds of lives, entered the hearts of those who met him.

Quite a few people who received life-saving kidneys thanks to Matnat Chaim have told their stories to the media.
