Vote Now for the World Zionist Congress

Monday, Mar 2 2020

Every five years the World Zionist Organization holds elections for the World Zionist Congress—the parliament of the Jewish people. The various slates represent diverse political beliefs, religious denominations, and other Zionist entities. This 38th World Zionist Congress will make decisions regarding the institutions which allocate nearly $1 billion annually to support Israel and world Jewry.

Make your voice heard!   The next congress will be held in Jerusalem from October 20-22, 2020 and voting in the US Zionist election is open until March 11, 2020. Hadassah urges all who love Israel to participate in the election and encourages Hadassah members, Associates, and supporters to vote for our faction partners Americans 4 Israel.

VOTE NOW

In order to vote in the United States, you must be Jewish, 18 years of age by June 30, live in the United States, not have voted in the last Knesset elections, and accept the Jerusalem program—the ideological platform of the Zionist movement. Visit azm.org/elections to register and vote. The fee to register and vote is $7.50.

In January, Hadassah passed a 38th World Zionist Congress and Unwavering Support for Israel policy statement.  This Congress is a continuation of the first Zionist Congress in 1897 led by Theodore Herzl. It is a democratically elected Jewish forum. The Congress is comprised of 500 elected delegates—190 from Israel based on Knesset elections, 145 from the United States, 165 from other countries in the diaspora—and 100 appointed by international Jewish organizations.  Delegates at the Congress form factions based on Israeli political parties or Zionist ideology.

Hadassah receives 32 delegates, who form a faction with World Confederation delegates from the United States and the Diaspora. In 1994, Hadassah received independent status within the WZO and, therefore, does not stand for elections.  Hadassah encourages supporters to vote for Americans 4 Israel, the slate for the World Confederation of United Zionists.  Learn more about the Americans 4 Israel platform.
