Career and Family
I was raised in Rosedale, Queens. In 1975, I graduated Queens College with honors and a BA in sociology. In my freshman year I met my husband, Stu. We have been married for over 40 years and are the proud parents of a son, Paul.
For not quite 10 years, I worked in the human resources and payroll department of a global logistics company in the World Trade Center. After taking a break to stay home with Paul, I returned to work for as an office manager for a small local company. Currently, I work part-time as an administrative assistant. But I consider my most important work to be the volunteer work I do as co-chair of Hadassah Nassau walk-a-thon for stem cell research.
How did you get involved with Hadassah
I became a member of Hadassah over 30 years ago. A woman approached me on the Long Island Railroad platform and said that she recognized me from the World Trade Center. She invited me to a meeting of the Valley Stream, NY Chapter. I immediately became active and held various positions -- program, membership and recording secretary. After moving to Oceanside, I transferred my membership to Oceanside Hadassah, where I've held many positions, including co-president.
What is it about Hadassah that resonates with you?
I am very passionate about my work as co-chair of the walk-a-thon for stem cell research. Hadassah is at the forefront of this research. The awareness and funds raised, I feel, will make the world a better place, a future free of pain and suffering. I am proud to be a part of this cause. Also, I enjoy being surrounded by bright, creative and talented women who share my passion for Israel, women’s advocacy, health issues and Jewish continuity.
Share something you would like people to know about you.
In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, baking, reading and the beach. What I enjoy the most is spending time with my family and friends. I love traveling to Walt Disney World, collecting Disney figurines and memorabilia. Also, I appreciate visiting historic sites, museums and national parks.
