How did you get involved with Hadassah?
I have been a member of Hadassah since 1992 - first in Boston where I held a number of portfolio's for my Hadassah Group (Atid), and then the Boston Chapter itself. One of my favorite portfolios was as NYLAC rep for the Boston Chapter. I had a blast and spearheaded several innovative conferences and programs. I was particularly honored to have been selected for the first Young Women's Mission to Israel - and several of us celebrated our 20 year anniversary at National this past summer in Atlanta. Most of us still keep in touch and several have gone on to noted portfolios within Hadassah. I am thrilled to be using my communication skills as part of the Greater Washington Chapter as well as an advocate on the Hill for the upcoming Women's Health Conference on May 17.
What is it about Hadassah that resonates with you?
Hadassah is my Tikkun Olam! There is a line in Raiders of the Lost Ark, "... We are simply passing through history. This, this *is* history." That is how I feel about Hadassah. Since 1912, Hadassah has woven itself into the fabric of the land of Israel even before statehood was assured. In 1918, my grandfather served with the Royal Fusiliers and is a veteran of the Hebrew battalions. He is profiled in the Bet Hagdudim Museum in Israel, so the existence of the State of Israel is an integral part of my family's psyche. The impact Hadassah has made in the lives of people-- nurses, doctors, patience, Youth Aliyah and many of its programs and initiatives, provides a rich tapestry from which to continue to build. As someone trained in social sciences and media, I tend to look at things with a long lens. Hadassah has been there for it all. I am passing through history, but my involvement with Hadassah contribute, in a small way, to its continued existence.

I owe much to Hadassah - including meeting my husband (story for another time), and found many of my closest and dearest friends from my work with Hadassah. Also - in reading past letters from my Grandmother - I realized I am a third generation Hadassah member (I made my Mom a Life Member). Woot Woot!
